Kathina Robe Ceremony, Fort Wayne, Indiana
The Mon people in Fort Wayne held the Great Kahtina Robe Donation Ceremony on October 10,2009. The people gathered at Mon Buddhist Temple and donated foods, money and robes to monks. They also took Five Precepts, listened Dhama talks and shared merit for their good deeds. The special event was held by the temple committee.
In the ceremony, Mi Jao Bu and Mi Sajin Htaw also made merits to dedicate to Major. Chai Deang who passed away for the Mon national liberation.
The ceremony was usually held at the end of the three month rains retreat season which monks stayed at the monastery without travelling over night. At the end of three months retreat, people offered new robes and other requisites to the monks.
